Abraham Steinberg was born in Ostroleka, Poland (pre–WWI Russian Empire) to Chaim Yitzhak (Hyman) & Sarah Steinberg in about 1885.
Other siblings that came to America were Libby (Lena), and Bobel.
When Abraham came to America in 1910, Becky (Badane) stayed behind with their two children, Eva, and Estelle. Badane and the children immigrated in 1912. They had two more children, Molly and Gertrude. Badane died from the Spanish Flu in 1919, along with her newborn baby. Gertrude died when she was 4.
Abraham remarried three months later to Anna Roman and had a son, Bernard, born in July 1920. Anna Roman had two daughters from an earlier marriage, the first named Jean or Jennie and the second named Frieda.
Abraham worked as a tailor primarily. In the 1920’s he owned a candy store. He died in 1945. My mom remembers him as being nice and remembers going to his funeral.
